The renovation of Loongbar transformed a former two-level theater at historic Ghirardelli Square into a dramatic Pan-Asian restaurant and bar for chef Mark Miller. Working in association with Studio Arquitectura, Inc., the interior architecture and design integrated Asian-inspired elements with contemporary San Francisco design.

A richly layered palette of brick, wood, sculpural forms (like the moon gate), and warm lighting created an immersive dining environment. Dragon-inspired motifs, temple references, and distinctive architectural features, like the grand entry moon gate, brougt a sense of movement and theatricality to the space, while intimate seatig areas, a dramatic bar, and a grand interior volume created a memorable restaurant experience.

The project reimagined an existing commerical space through an expressive approach to interior architecture, lighting and atmosphere.
